"Why Liberals Should Back Border Security and Effective Immigration Law Enforcement"

Hi Gang:
The election campaigns are in the home stretch!
Americans must become engaged in the political process and not just by voting but by questioning what they are being told by journalists as well as politicians from both sides of the political aisle.
Americans must come to understand that politics is the ultimate “reality game!”
Nothing less that the survival of the United States and the future of Americans are on the line!
Politicians make all sorts of promises that they not only know that they cannot keep but that they don’t want to keep- just to convince (swindle) voters to vote for them.  The trick is to see beyond the rhetoric and the false promises and skewed perspectives.
I have often said that David Copperfield should run for President so that we would finally get a professional illusionist in the Oval Office!
Let us consider the issue of immigration.  America’s immigration law were enacted to achieve two primary goals- protect American lives and protect the jobs of American workers.
Today my commentary is predicated on my most recently posted article that appears on the CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization Website) which can be found at www.capsweb.org.  The commentary focuses on how failures to secure America’s borders and enforce America’s immigration laws are creating a nightmare scenario for American workers that not unlike cascading dominos, is having a profound impact on nearly every sector of the American economy.
Incredibly, rhetoric and propaganda as well as absurd statements by pundits and alleged journalists have convinced many people that only right wing extremists would make an issue of immigration law enforcement.  The wacky claim is made that “Liberals” are, or at least should be, in favor of massive amnesty programs for illegal aliens.  This makes absolutely no sense, but somehow this perspective has adopted by ever so many Americans.
Back when I attended high school we were taught about how the labor movement- certainly a “Liberal” movement, arose.  The union movement which was headed up by such leaders as Samuel Gompers, created the American Federal of Labor (AFL) which is now a part of the AFL-CIO.  These unions fought against unscrupulous hiring practices of some companies including the immoral practice of child labor.  The unions demanded better wages and working conditions and would strike in order to achieve their goals.
Employers hired private security firms to disrupt the picket lines.  They sent there thugs into the picket lines with clubs they wielded freely against the strikers.  Union members came to refer to worker who would cross their picket lines as being “scabs.”
Today unscrupulous employers employers hire foreign workers who don’t necessarily cross picket lines but America’s borders, to displace and undercut American workers!  The only thing exceptional about foreign workers is that they are willing to work for exceptionally low wages under substandard- often illegally dangerous conditions.
Just yesterday the Labor Department released its latest statistics that unemployment as gone from 7.8% to 7.9% even after roughly 180,000 jobs were created.  I have watched a number of journalists and pundits discuss this and not one of them talked about how the administration is adding many more foreign workers to the labor pool under the aegis of what the President calls his use of “Prosecutorial Discretion” and that I have come to refer to as a glaring example of “Prosecutorial Deception” for alien DREAMERS.  Aliens who are granted employment authorization have equal standing in the labor pool with United States citizen and lawful immigrant workers.  Those statistics that have left so many pundits scratching their heads are actually easy to understand- more American have, once again, been displaced by increasing numbers of foreign workers who, although they are illegal aliens have been granted equal standing where the issue of jobs is concerned!
If you doubt my analysis, consider that on November 1, 2012 the Washington Times published a report based on a recent study conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies. The title of that newspaper report gets to the heart of the matter:

Two-thirds of jobs go to immigrants during Obama’s four years

This report began with the following paragraph:

“Two-thirds of those who have found employment under President Obama are immigrants, both legal and illegal, according to an analysis that suggests immigration has soaked up a large portion of what little job growth there has been over the past three years.”

This represents a betrayal of American workers, millions of whom are currently unemployed and underemployed!
How could “Liberals” think that this is the way that hard working Americans should be forced out of their jobs or, at the very least, be coerced into accepting wages even as costs skyrocket?
Furthermore, illegal aliens are more likely to become involved in criminal activities, whether it is to commit identity theft or because they are intent on plying criminal trades in the United States.  Approximately 30% of the inmates in federal prisons are identified as illegal aliens.  Illegal aliens certainly do not comprise 30% of the population of the United States!  The crimes that criminals commit victimize a wide variety of people but most often the victims of the crimes that transnational criminals commit are those who belong to ethnic immigrant communities.  This is not just about Latinos but about immigrant communities whose origins can be traced to countries in virtually every continent from Asia to Africa, Europe to the Middle East, the Caribbean and Latin America.  These folks are the most vulnerable to these crimes because, in part, transnational criminals are able to threaten to do harm to family members in the home countries of these immigrants and then make good on those threats if those immigrants fail to do what is demanded of them by the thugs who violated America’s borders and made a mockery of our immigration laws- laws that this administration in particular is unwilling to enforce!
Is it “Liberal” to not care about victims of crimes- especially when the victims are particularly vulnerable?
If you find yourself to be in agreement with my commentary- please forward it to as many folks as you can and encourage them to do the same- I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade” of truth!
Immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts nearly every challenge and threat confronting the United States today!

If our government’s failures to protect American jobs by securing our nation’s borders and effectively enforcing our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Why Liberals Should Back Border Security and Effective Immigration Law Enforcement

The concept of “The Big Lie” has been co-opted by the Immigration Anarchists, the opponents of border security and effective immigration law enforcement. For the past several decades these folks have spread the mythology that those who seek secure borders and effective immigration law enforcement are right wing political extremists and bigots. This is simply crazy.

When you consider that the immigration laws were enacted to save American lives and Americans’ jobs, you have to ask if Liberals don’t believe in preventing criminals and terrorists from entering the United States. It would make no sense for Liberals to be opposed to national security and/or community safety. In fact, the Liberals tend to be the most concerned about issues of safety. This is why they are often portrayed as the “Mommies” while the Conservatives are portrayed as the “Daddies.”

Immigration is about national security- the 9/11 Commission Staff Report (Monograph) on Terrorist Travel addressed this nexus. Here are two important excerpts from that report, the first of which is the first paragraph in the preface:

“It is perhaps obvious to state that terrorists cannot plan and carry out attacks in the United States if they are unable to enter the country. Yet prior to September 11, while there were efforts to enhance border security, no agency of the U.S. government thought of border security as a tool in the counterterrorism arsenal. Indeed, even after 19 hijackers demonstrated the relative ease of obtaining a U.S. visa and gaining admission into the United States, border security still is not considered a cornerstone of national security policy. We believe, for reasons we discuss in the following pages, that it must be made one.”

And the second under the title “Immigration Benefits” found on page 98:

“Terrorists in the 1990s, as well as the September 11 hijackers, needed to find a way to stay in or embed themselves in the United States if their operational plans were to come to fruition. As already discussed, this could be accomplished legally by marrying an American citizen, achieving temporary worker status, or applying for asylum after entering. In many cases, the act of filing for an immigration benefit sufficed to permit the alien to remain in the country until the petition was adjudicated. Terrorists were free to conduct surveillance, coordinate operations, obtain and receive funding, go to school and learn English, make contacts in the United States, acquire necessary materials, and execute an attack.”

Traditionally, Liberals and Democrats are usually identified with the labor movement, a movement that originally sought to protect the rights and working conditions of American workers. Liberals tend to like labor unions while Conservatives oppose unions. Prior to the Second World War the administration and enforcement of the immigration laws was the responsibility of the United States Department of Labor. It was understood that if large numbers of foreign workers were allowed to enter the United States and seek employment the economic doctrine of “Supply and Demand” would cause Americans to wind up competing with foreign workers and if they did not lose their jobs to their foreign competitors, at the very least, the wages for most jobs would plummet. The effective enforcement of America’s immigration laws gave rise to the largest and most upwardly mobile Middle Class on the planet. This gave rise to the concept of the “American Dream.”

Today, both parties have caused the immigration crisis confronting the United States. Ironically, the Democratic Party is pushing the hardest for creating a “Pathway to United States Citizenship” for

unknown millions, perhaps tens of millions illegal aliens. Besides making an utter mockery of the lawful immigration system that provides more than 1.1 million aliens with lawful immigrant status each year, placing them immediately on a pathway to U.S. citizenship, this proposal will also threaten national security for the reasons noted above in the quote from the 9/11 Commission Staff Report on Terrorist Travel and, just as disconcerting, create millions of competitors for jobs at time when America’s middle class is contracting as never before- largely because there are so many unemployed and underemployed American workers and wages are remaining stagnant if not declining.

Liberals and Conservatives need to stop pointing fingers and hurling accusations at each other and need to start speaking with one another. The “Divide and conquer” strategy of the immigration anarchists and others whose agenda has nothing to do with what is best for America and Americans must be defeated. It can be defeated if Americans of all political orientations work together for a change. Literally and figuratively!

The time has come to vote for individual candidates irrespective of their political party affiliations.
