On the radio this morning, Tuesday, January 10th on the Helen Glover Show-

Hi Gang:

This Tuesday as I do on just about every Tuesday- at 8:00 AM Eastern Standard Time, I will be a guest on the excellent Helen Glover Show which is broadcast on Providence, Rhode Island’s Radio Station, WHJJ.

You can listen to Helen’s show online at:
Immigration is emerging as one of the most important issues in the minds of the citizens of our nation yet it would certainly appear that all too many of our elected “representatives” and other politicians who are supposed to “lead” with the consent of their constituents are blatantly ignoring the will of their constituents and their oaths of office!
Today Helen and I will be discussing the just released Inspector General’s scathing report about the many failures of the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) to uncover fraud and act appropriately to make certain that aliens who are granted lawful immigrant status and United States citizenship are actually eligible to have those important benefits conferred upon them.  USCIS is a division of DHS, an agency I have come to refer to as the Department of Homeland Surrender!
It is important to know that a member of the United States Senate is responsible for shedding the light of truth on this deplorable situation at USCIS.  His name is Charles Grassley ( R ) Iowa.  He is one of the truly exceptional members of the United States Senate who has led the charge in many instances where oversight was sorely needed.  You may recall that he, along with Congressman Daryl Issa was responsible for calling attention to ATF monumental disastrous investigations known as Operation Fast and Furious.
Senator Grassley should serve as a role model for all of our elected officials!
Here is a link to his press release that was dated October 15, 2010 in which he called for an investigation into the procedures at USCIS.

His press release was entitled:

Grassley Reveals Evidence of Improper Influence over Visa Policy
I have attached the contents of his press release below.
The formal title of Inspector General’s report that was made public yesterday, Monday, January 9, 2012 is:
 Department of Homeland Security
The Effects of USCIS Adjudication Procedures and Policies on
Fraud Detection by Immigration Services Officers

Here is a link to that report:
International terrorists and transnational criminals need to be able to enter the United States in order to carry out their goals.  When our nation provides such pernicious individuals with lawful status and especially resident alien status and United States citizenship, we provide them with the ability to hide in plain sight among us.  In the parlance of the 9/11 Commission, this is the process by which the terrorists embed themselves in communities across our nation.
Here is the link to a recent commentary I posted on my website that addressed the arrest of the head of a New York law firm that is alleged to have provided perhaps more than 25,000 aliens with visas and lawful status by filing fraud-laden applications:
Our nation’s immigration laws do not differentiate people by race, religion or ethnicity but do draw the distinction between citizens and non-citizens (aliens).
Our immigration laws are supposed to protect our nation from aliens whose presence in our country would be harmful to our nation and our citizens.  Clearly this administration and a succession of previous administrations from both parties have refused to shoulder this responsibility in a meaningful way.
There are currently about 7,000 special agents employed by ICE and the majority of these agents are focused on violations of Customs laws and not immigration laws.  To put this in perspective, the NYPD has about 35,000 police officers and the TSA employs more than 60,000 personnel.  Clearly there are no resources and no desire to truly enforce these the immigration laws that are so important to our nation.
I hope you will be listening to Helen’s excellent show!

The practice of good citizenship does not end in the voting booth, it only begins there.

The collective failure of We the People to get involved in make our concerns known to our politicians have nearly made the concerns of the great majority of the citizens of this nation all but irrelevant to the politicians.  I implore you to get involved!
I believe our nation’s is greatly benefited by the rich diversity of our people which is why I could never imagine living anywhere except New York City, arguably the most diverse city in our nation if not, in fact, the world.  However, my idea of diversity most certainly does not include members of MS-13, the Mexican drug cartels or members of other transnational gangs or members of al-Qaeda!

If our government’s failures to secure our nation’s borders and effectively enforce our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Grassley Reveals Evidence of Improper Influence over Visa Policy

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today asked the
Secretary of Homeland Security and the Inspector General who oversees
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to address evidence from
statements made by immigration officers that senior U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services leaders are putting pressure on employees to
approve more visa applications, even if the applications might be
fraudulent or the applicant is ineligible.  U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services is an agency within the Department of Homeland

Grassley first brought attention to this issue in a letter to U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas in
September.  Since then, additional agency insiders have provided new
information suggesting that the director is responsible for fostering an
environment in the California Service Center that encourages the
approval of as many applications as possible, regardless of eligibility
or potential fraud.  According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services employees, a “visibly agitated” Mayorkas asked employees, “Why
would you be focusing on [fraud] instead of approvals?” and, on a
separate occasion, at a conference in Landsdowne, Virginia, said that
there are some “managers with black spots on their hearts” in U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services because they would not approve more
visa applications.

“The American people need to know that the rule of law isn’t being
undermined by political leaders,” Grassley said.  “The safety of
America’s citizens is the Department of Homeland Security’s primary
duty, and I expect Secretary Napolitano and Inspector General Skinner to
address this situation quickly and thoroughly.”

Grassley first raised concerns over U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services visa policy after whistleblower accusations that supervisors
directed staff at the California Service Center to “find a way” to
approve visa applications and expressed a desire to “instruct
generosity” when processing immigration benefits.  Since then,
additional agency staff has come forward with allegations of retaliation
and pressure asserted by leadership.

Grassley’s September 10, 2010 letter to Director Mayorkas is available here.
