Obama admin unilaterally changes law to allow immigrants with ‘limited’ terror contact into US

Here is how the news report begins:

The Obama administration has issued new exemptions to a law that bars certain asylum-seekers and refugees who provided “limited material support” to terrorists who are believed to pose no threat from the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security and the State Department published the new exemptions Wednesday in the Federal Register to narrow a ban in the Immigration and Nationality Act excluding refugees and asylum seekers who had provided limited material support, no matter how minor, to terrorists.

Our immigration laws were enacted to protect America and Americans. Political asylum is an important humanitarian program but must be administered with caution to make certain that criminals and terrorists are not able to turn America’s compassion into a weapon against us.

On December 13, 2013 the House Judiciary Committee conducted a hearing into the failures of the DHS to prevent drug cartel members from gaming the political asylum program.

Asylum Abuse: Is it Overwhelming our Borders?

On the heels of that Congressional hearing, which focused on the threats posed by ineptitude of the DHS to effectively administer the political asylum program, the administration is now unilaterally providing more aliens (those who may have been in contact with terrorist organizations) with access to political asylum and in a way that may enable more terrorists to enter the United States. It makes a mockery of our laws and the process by which hearing conducted by Congress to conduct meaningful oversight.

I was interviewed by Megyn Kelly about the Boston Marathon bombers on May 2, 2013 and the issue of apparent fraud in the political asylum applications their family filed.

I had previously written an extensive article about political asylum fraud for “The Social Contract.” The title of my article, which was published in the Summer Edition of that quarterly publication was:

“Political Asylum: Where Compassion and National Security Intersect”

What was not noted in the edited version of my article is that when I was in high school and then when I went on to college, I served as a president of a local B’nai B’rith chapter. Back in the mid 1960’s I participated in a rally outside the White House along with thousands of members of a wide array of organizations to implore then President, Lyndon Johnson, to ask that he attempt to convince the leaders of the Soviet Union to permit Jews and other minority groups to leave Russia and go to whatever countries would admit these people so that they could be free of persecution and be free to worship as they wish. In 1971 I entered on duty as an Immigration Inspector and was thrilled to admit political refugees into the United States.

On a personal note, the issue of political asylum is of particular significance to me. During the Holocaust, many members of my mother’s family in Poland were slaughtered, including her mother (my grandmother) for whom I was named.

The point is that I believe that we are at our best when we are able to protect those who are at risk.

America must always lead the charge when innocent lives are at risk but must never result in America or Americans being placed at risk.

The process by which political asylum applications are currently adjudicated, have turned this important humanitarian program into a serious vulnerability for Americans and America. When aliens’ applications for political asylum are not properly vetted, this well-intentioned program provides terrorists and criminals with opportunities to use this program as a means to enter the United States and embed themselves in the United States.

In my judgement, the unilateral action of the administration imperils national security.

In point of fact, today, all of the various immigration benefit programs lack even a modicum of integrity thus undermining national security.

Simply stated, this is unacceptable!

Immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts nearly every challenge and threat confronting the United States today!

It is not “Anti-Immigrant to be “Pro-American!”

Our armed forces are charged with securing America’s borders externally while the DHS is supposed to secure those same borders from within. The failures of the DHS to live up to its half of the equation are undermining the efforts, valor and incredible sacrifices of Americas men and women who serve in our military!

If our government’s failures to protect American jobs by securing our nation’s borders and effectively enforcing our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!
