â??Let them eat cakeâ?? has been replaced by â??Jobs Americans wonâ??t do!â??

Hi Gang:
During the recent election campaigns conducted throughout the United States, virtually every candidate for every elected position promised to do his (her) best to help create jobs or, at the very least, a climate that was conducive to creating jobs so that desperate American workers could support themselves and their families.  These politicians knew that first and foremost, this issue was highest on the list of priorities for those whose votes they were seeking to garner.
It would certainly appear that many of these politicians lack “mouth – ear” coordination.  They apparently cannot hear what they, themselves, were saying!
The politicians to which I refer are those who show utter disdain and contempt for America’s immigration laws that were primarily enacted to achieve two critical goals- to protect American lives and jobs of American and lawful immigrant workers!  These are the political “leaders” who have done everything they can to create “Sanctuary Cities” and even, in some instances, “Sanctuary States” that run interference for illegal aliens who live and work within their jurisdictions.
These actions compromise national security, community safety and the ability of far too many hardworking American workers to find jobs with which they can support themselves and their families.
Adding insult to injury, under the Obama administration, which will now continue for an other four years, when states or cities declare themselves to be “Sanctuaries” for illegal aliens, an apparent violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1324, that the Obama administration’s Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security take no substantive action.

Consider that under Title 8, United States Code, Section 1324, a section of law that is comprehended within the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), it is a felony to aid, abet, encourage or induce aliens to enter our country illegally or remain in our country illegally.

Here is an excerpt from that section of law:

Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) Offenses

Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3).
Harboring — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who — knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals harbors, shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.
Encouraging/Inducing — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) makes it an offense for any person who — encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless

disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.

Conspiracy/Aiding or Abetting — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(v) expressly makes it an offense to engage in a conspiracy to commit or aid or abet the commission of the foregoing offenses.
Today my commentary is predicated on my most recently posted article that appears on the CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization Website) which can be found at www.capsweb.org.  The commentary focuses on how failures to secure America’s borders and enforce America’s immigration laws are creating a nightmare scenario for American and lawful immigrant workers who find themselves competing with ever greater number of foreign workers.
These hardworking Americans and their families suffer even greater unfair competition for scarce jobs in towns and cities that provide “sanctuary” for illegal aliens.
Not long ago I wrote a commentary for the CAPS website which I simply entitled, “Musical Chairs.”
In that article I compared the American workforce with children playing a game of “Musical Chairs.”  You likely remember that in that game a number of children circle a row of chairs while music plays.  When the music stops every child has to scramble to find a chair to sit in.  The challenge is that there is one more child than the number of chairs.  The child who is unable to find a seat is out of the game and takes a chair with him (her),  The music resumes and the game continues until finally only once child manages to beat out his competitor to sit in the remaining chair.  In that article I asked to compare that childhood game with the challenges that American workers face today.  Then I asked that by not creating enough new jobs and by providing more foreign workers with the ability to work in the United States, either by not securing our borders against the entry of illegal aliens or especially by providing foreign workers with the lawful authority to work in the United States would be the equivalent of having lots more kids enter the room where the game of Musical Chairs was being played but while not adding any more chairs (which represent jobs).  Think of how much the kids would wail about the game being unfair!  Now think of how unfair it is for the federal government, often aided and abetted by local and state governments that declare themselves to be “Sanctuaries” for illegal aliens are making it ever more difficult for American workers of every race, religion and ethnicity to be gainfully employed so that they can support themselves and their families!
Immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts nearly every challenge and threat confronting the United States today!

If our government’s failures to protect American jobs by securing our nation’s borders and effectively enforcing our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

If you like this commentary, kindly forward it to as many folks as you can and ask them to do the same- I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

“Let them eat cake” has been replaced by “Jobs Americans won’t do!”

The four word phrase, “Let them eat cake” is often attributed to 18th Century French Queen Marie Antoinette, purportedly in response to being told that the peasants of France had no bread to eat.  It is likely that the quote was never uttered by that member of French aristocracy in the days before the French Revolution.  However, while she may not have made that statement it is clear that she and the other members of the elite of French society could not relate to the daily suffering of their  far less fortunate fellow citizens and in fact, treated them with abject contempt.

Today the leaders of the United States are not suggesting that the poor eat cake but politicians from both sides of the political aisle provide the disingenuous claim that illegal aliens do the work that Americans won’t do.  Many of these politicians such as Chuck Schumer, the Senator from New York and former President Clinton have never even held a “real job!”  They graduated from college and immediately set about getting elected- working within a political system that bears no relationship to the world that most people live in.  These politicians truly live and operate in a parallel universe!

Immigration laws have not been effectively enforced for decades.  This is why we currently have millions, if not tens of millions of illegal aliens in the United States.  However, the Obama administration has demonstrated the ultimate betrayal of American workers by providing millions of illegal aliens with employment authorization under the aegis of the failed “DREAM Act.”  What you may not know is that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) rarely enforces worksite investigations into the hiring of illegal aliens and when, on rare occasions it does, it now conducts “Silent Raids” meaning that when employers are investigated for hiring illegal aliens, it is likely that the ICE agents won’t even contact the illegal aliens and only look to fine or prosecute their employers.  The illegal aliens will likely just go on their merry way to seek new employment elsewhere in the United States!

There are so many organizations and individuals who literally and figuratively make out “like bandits” by exploiting vulnerable desperate illegal aliens that it is easy for politicians seeking campaign contributions to curry favor by combatting meaningful immigration law enforcement and to find ways of stymying efforts to provide real border security.

In order to attempt to convince American workers who are betrayed by the massive influx of illegal aliens seeking to take jobs for which they will be paid substandard wages and all too often made to toil under illegally substandard and dangerous conditions these political “leaders” blithely claim that the aliens do the work Americans won’t do!

“Day laborers” often supplant American tradesman on construction sites.  The quality of the work that day laborers do does not begin to approach the level of quality of work that journeyman tradesmen do, but all too often those who hire them seem to live up to the adage that they know the price of everything and the value of nothing!

This topic is close to my heart!  My dad was my biggest hero.  He was a construction worker- a “Plumber by trade” as he would proudly proclaim when asked about his livelihood.  He (and his buddies) would go to work with a fever even if the roads were covered with ice.  He would go to work with an aching back even when the temperature climbed above 100 degrees!  He ultimately died at age 57.  He had lung cancer that I suspect was, in part, attributable to his 3 pack a day Chesterfield Cigarette addiction and to his having been exposed to asbestos at work.  During World War II, he desperately wanted to join the military but because his only brother had enlisted in the Army Air Corps (the forerunner of the U.S. Air Force); the Draft Board rejected him in the wake of the terrible tragedy of the five Sullivan Brothers and the  implementation of the Sole Survivor Policy that followed.  Consequently my dad worked in shipyards in Brooklyn, New York and then in New Orleans- determined to make his contribution to the war effort by building and repairing U.S. Navy war ships.

Today Americans (when they can find work) continue to work on construction sites, in coal mines, in steel foundries and other dangerous, filthy and back-breaking jobs.  Some Americans are “under-employed.” taking part-time jobs and jobs that pay less than they had previously earned.

Studies continually show Americans to be the hardest working workers yet politicians who would likely recoil at the mere thought of getting their hands soiled, repeat the outrageous mantra about the “Jobs Americans won’t do!”

I prefer the words of Homer Hickam, the author of the book, “The Rocket Boys” that became the basis for the excellent film, “October Sky.”  Homer is the son of a coal miner from Coalwood, West Virginia.

When called upon to deliver the eulogy at the memorial service for the coal miners who perished in the mine cave-in at the Sago Mines several years ago, he said, “There is no water holier than the sweat off a man’s brow!”

America’s immigration laws were enacted to protect the lives and livelihoods of Americans.  Failures to enforce the immigration laws and secure our borders enable criminals and terrorists to enter the United States and set up shop in towns and cities across this nation.  These failures are also responsible for creating unfair and illegal competition for American workers and their families who are today, in record numbers, living below the poverty line.

The problem is not that Americans won’t do the tough jobs but that too many of our politicians won’t do their jobs- to look out for their fellow Americans who they were elected to represent!
