Proclamations by the Obama administration that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released fewer criminal illegal immigrants back into society last year compared to the year before are disingenuous, Michael Cutler, a former officer with the Immigration and Nationalization Service, said Thursday on “America’s Forum” on Newsmax TV.
“The only reason they released fewer is because they’re making fewer arrests, because DHS [Homeland Security Department] has really put a noose around the enforcement personnel,” Cutler said.
“We all hear what the president had to say to ICE agents: Forget the law, you have to follow my orders whether or not they parallel the law or conflict with the law.”
ICE reportedly released 30,000 criminal aliens last fiscal year, compared with more than 36,000 in 2013.
Releasing illegal aliens with criminal records back into the U.S. is a sign of “anarchy” by the government, Cutler said.
The irony, according to Cutler, is that the most likely victims of those released are other immigrants living in the same communities.
“It’s not just about Latin Americans,” he said. “It’s about people from Russia, the Asian community, the Caribbean community. And if you look at what they did last year, because they’re not telling us what crimes these people committed, but … the ones that were released, some of them were actually in jail for homicide and rape. We’re taking violent people and putting them out into society.”
The Obama administration has snubbed its nose at the inspections process, which is intended to keep criminals and terrorists from entering the United States, according to Cutler.
“By ignoring the immigration laws, ignoring that process of inspections conducted at ports of entry, what we’re really doing is making it that much easier for those people who wish us ill to come here and ply their trades,” he said.
The solution, he said, is to “enforce the law, hire agents, give them the jail spaces that they need and visas” to send the illegals back to their home countries.
The administration must understand that U.S. immigration laws “serve as a first impression to the rest of the world.”
“This administration has convinced the world that violating our laws, violating our borders, will not only be tolerated but rewarded. That’s one hell of a message at a time when they’re violating the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission,” which warned that “that most of the terrorists come through airports and then disappear into communities around the country,” he said.
“It’s time we went back and took a hard look at the 9/11 Commission and get immigration back on track, so we don’t wind up calling DHS, as I’ve come to call it, the Department of Homeland Surrender.”
