My focus today is a commentary
I wrote for CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization) blog that was posted earlier today on their website.
If you find what follows is helpful to you- please forward it to as many folks as possible and ask them to do the same- I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”
Some politicians have eagerly proclaimed that they want to provide unknown millions of illegal aliens with lawful status, employment authorization and pathways to United States citizenship are either too myopic to understand how such a massive program would undermine national security, public safety, the economy, unemployment and the economic viability of America’s middle class, education and healthcare, to name just a few of the areas where Comprehensive Immigration Reform would do irreparable damage, or they just don’t care.
Other politicians on the state or local level gleefully proclaim that their towns, cities and states will shield illegal aliens from detection by the federal government. They boast about being “Sanctuaries” for aliens whose identities, backgrounds, affiliations and intentions are unknown and unknowable but blithely ignore that this cavalier attitude towards America’s immigration laws pose a threat to the wellbeing of the folks who live in those so-called “Sanctuary Cities” and “Sanctuary States.”
It is important to note that the Immigration and Nationality Act contains provisions to combat such irresponsible acts as the creation of Sanctuary Cities.
Under provisions contained in Title 8, United States Code, Section 1324
, a section of law that s contained within the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), it is a felony to aid, abet, encourage or induce aliens to enter our country illegally or remain in our country illegally thereafter.
Consider this excerpt from that section of law:
(iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;
(iv) encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law…
However, a succession of administrations from both political parties have ignored these laws where local and state governments are concerned. In isolated instances, individuals and companies have been prosecuted for these violations but never have local or state governments or their officials been made accountable.
The Obama administration has not only not sought to curtail the actions of such sanctuaries but has, on occasion taken the unprecedented measure of filing lawsuits against states that attempted to fill the void where immigration law enforcement is concerned by enacting their own immigration statutes that essentially paralleled the federal immigration laws.
By the words and deeds of the current administration and by the words and promises of deeds by the “Gang of Eight” or, as I have come to refer to them as the “Eight Gangsters” something else has been happening- aliens from around the world are heading for the United States hoping that they will be able to participate in Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
In virtually every other area of law enforcement advertising campaigns are devised to warn those who would violate the law that police and other law enforcement agencies will uncover those violations and those who violate the law will be discovered, arrested, prosecuted and face punishment.
In the realm of motor vehicle laws and safety the major concerns are drunk driving, reckless or aggressive driving and failure to wear seat-belts.
In part to generate revenue but also, purportedly to stop motorists from running red lights or speeding, cameras that detect both categories of violations are being used around the United States. Run a light, drive too fast and a summons will be sent to your home. Sobriety checkpoints combat drunk driving and also combat other offenses.
Many law enforcement agencies provide hefty cash incentives for those who will come forward to report those who evade taxes.
Where immigration laws are concerned, however, the only publicity to be found are the statements by the President on down that immigration law violations will be shielded from detection and that ultimately the government wants to reward those who commit these violations!
Is there any wonder that there are likely tens of millions of illegal aliens present in the United States with more arriving hourly?
Immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts nearly every challenge and threat confronting the United States today!
Our armed forces are charged with securing America’s borders externally while the DHS is supposed to secure those same borders from within. The failures of the DHS to live up to its half of the equation are undermining the efforts, valor and incredible sacrifices of Americas men and women who serve in our military! The immigration laws are supposed to achieve two primary goals- to protect American lives and protect Americans’ jobs.

Our nation is greatly benefited by the rich diversity of our people which is why I could never imagine living anywhere except New York City, arguably the most diverse city in our nation if not, in fact, the world. However, my idea of diversity most certainly does not include members of MS-13, the Mexican drug cartels or members of other transnational gangs or members of al-Qaeda or other terrorist organizations!
It is also vital that American workers never be made to compete with foreign workers for their jobs! (This requirement is a component of the Immigration Laws that are not being enforced today!)
If our government’s failures to secure our nation’s borders and effectively enforce our immigration laws that are intended to protect our nation and our citizens concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!
I also ask that you pass this e-mail along to your friends and neighbors- I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”
We the People must make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!
We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.
This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!
You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!
Democracy is not a spectator sport!
Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Incentivizing Illegal Immigration
If you build it, they will come” were words from A Field of Dreams that were whispered into farmer Ray Kinsella’s ear. Inspired, Kinsella, the character Kevin Costner played, built a baseball diamond in the middle of his farm.
The “Gang of Eight”routinely issues progress reports that are like a modern day siren song which promise that the federal government is about to pass a sweeping amnesty program for at least 11 million illegal aliens. No matter what the Gang of Eight claims, the reality is that in order to qualify for amnesty, a foreign national will only have to run across America’s borders and irrespective of the truth, fill out applications that indicate he meets whatever requirements are stipulated in the pending legislation.
In order to work, man’s laws, unlike the laws of nature, must be enforceable and ultimately enforced. USCIS can’t state with certainty that the millions of applications that would be filed by aliens hoping to be granted amnesty are truthful. A background check couldn’t be performed adequately enough to substantiate the information submitted on the applications. If an alien provides a false name and has never been fingerprinted in the United States, the odds are good that even aliens with criminal histories in their home countries will beat the system.
USCIS and ICE lack the resources to conduct field investigations in conjunction with a minimum 11 million applications.
The 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act was supposed to provide permanent legal residency for about one million illegal aliens. However, when the dust settled, more than 3.5 million illegal immigrants were rewarded with lawful status. The same would happen if the 2013 immigration bill passes. Now that rumors of a new amnesty are in the air, aspiring aliens are coming!
On April 1, 2013 Townhall.com posted an article titled Illegal Border Crossings Double, Border Becomes Less Secure as Beltway Gets Close to Deal on Immigration Reform
These would-be aliens are seeking admission to the “amnesty ball park” that the Gang of Eight and the Obama administration have promised to build.
While some politicians claim that the only metric to consider prior to comprehensive immigration reform is southern border security, ignore the many ways that the current immigration system fails on it two primary goals of protecting innocent lives and protecting American workers’ jobs.
The administration may claim that the border is secure, but those whose job it is to keep the border secure know differently. Promising millions of aliens amnesty without a meaningful background check provides an irresistible incentive for aspiring illegal aliens worldwide
The Gang of Eight is digging a deep hole for United States’ citizens of every ethnicity who want to fulfill their own American dreams.
